Abraham and Isaac on Mount Moriah

Genesis 22:1-19 tells how God tested Abraham by commanding him to take Isaac to the land of Moriah and offer him on a mountain God would show him. Abraham traveled with Isaac and two servants, carrying wood, fire, and a knife. During the journey, Isaac asked where the lamb was. Abraham answered that God would provide the lamb. At the place, Abraham built an altar and arranged the wood. Before any harm came to Isaac, the angel of the LORD called from heaven and told Abraham not to lay a hand on the boy. Abraham then saw a ram caught by its horns in a thicket and offered it instead of his son. He named the place, “The LORD will provide.” The LORD also confirmed promises concerning Abraham’s offspring, victory over enemies, and blessing to all nations of the earth.
