The Bible moment
In Exodus 4:13–17, Moses asks the LORD to send someone else. The LORD’s anger burns against Moses, but God provides help instead of leaving him alone. Aaron, Moses’ brother, is appointed to speak for him. God promises to help both brothers speak and to teach them what to do. Moses will tell Aaron what to say, and Aaron will speak to the people. Moses is also instructed to take his staff with him to perform the signs. This moment comes during God’s conversation with Moses at the burning bush. It shows that God knows Moses’ fears and gives him a helper while still calling him to obey. The passage ends with Moses instructed to take the staff; it does not yet describe his meeting with Israel or Pharaoh.
