Bible moment
The Bible moment
Genesis 45:1–15 records the moment Joseph reveals his identity to his brothers. He first sends everyone else away and weeps loudly. The brothers are troubled and cannot answer at first. Joseph tells them not to be distressed or angry with themselves. He explains that God sent him ahead to preserve life during the famine. Joseph then embraces Benjamin and weeps with his brothers. This moment follows their journeys to Egypt for grain, Joseph’s testing of them, and Judah’s plea to remain in Benjamin’s place. The brothers’ earlier wrongdoing is not presented as good, but Joseph responds with forgiveness and comfort. The passage centers on God’s preservation of life, reconciliation, and a family beginning to be restored.
