The Bible Story

Naaman Is Healed

In 2 Kings 5:5–7, the king of Aram sends Naaman to the king of Israel with a letter and gifts. Naaman is seeking help for his skin disease after a captive Israelite girl serving in his household told Naaman’s wife about the prophet in Samaria. The letter asks the king of Israel to heal Naaman. The king of Israel becomes afraid, wondering whether the request is meant to begin a conflict. The passage lists silver, gold, and changes of clothing among the gifts, but it does not give their exact appearance or value. This scene begins Naaman’s journey toward the prophet Elisha and the instruction that will follow.
