Bible moment
The Bible moment
In 2 Kings 5:1–19, Naaman, commander of the army of Aram, has a skin disease. After receiving guidance about Elisha, he follows the prophet’s instruction, given through a messenger, to wash seven times in the Jordan River. His skin is restored, and he is clean. Naaman returns to Elisha and recognizes that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel. He urges Elisha to accept a gift, but Elisha refuses. This passage presents healing as God’s work, not something that can be purchased. It also shows Naaman moving from anger and expectation toward obedience, humility, and thankful recognition of God’s power.
