The Bible moment
Exodus 19:7–8 describes Moses reporting God’s words to the elders. The people answer together that they will do everything the Lord has said, and Moses brings their answer back to God. This promise comes after God reminded Israel that he rescued them from Egypt and called them to listen and keep his covenant as his special people. It comes before the Ten Commandments are spoken in Exodus 20. The scene is set at Mount Sinai, where Israel is camped in the wilderness. The passage highlights a community responding together to God’s instruction. It does not describe tablets or later covenant details in this moment.
