New Testament · Acts 1:1-11

Jesus Ascends to Heaven

After his suffering, Jesus presents himself alive to the apostles over forty days, giving many convincing proofs and speaking about the kingdom of God. While eating with them, he tells them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait for the Father’s promised gift, the Holy Spirit. He says they will receive power and be his witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. After blessing them, Jesus is taken up while they watch, and a cloud hides him from their sight. Two men in white clothing tell them that Jesus will return in the same way they saw him go into heaven.
