The Bible moment
Genesis 22:3-5 says Abraham rose early, saddled his donkey, took Isaac and two servants, cut wood, and traveled toward the place God had told him about. On the third day, Abraham saw the place. He told the servants that he and Isaac would worship and return. The passage does not name the servants or explain Abraham’s statement beyond those words. This journey follows God’s test of Abraham, who had been told to go to the land of Moriah and offer Isaac on a mountain God would show him. The story should be presented carefully for children: the command is stated without depicting intended harm, and the journey itself is shown as non-threatening. Later in the account, the angel of the LORD stops Abraham, Isaac is unharmed, and God provides a ram instead. These later events are part of the wider story but are not the focus of this travel scene.
