Bible moment
The Bible moment
Luke 2:1–5 says that Caesar Augustus ordered a registration, so people went to their own towns to be recorded. Joseph traveled from Nazareth in Galilee to Bethlehem in Judea, David’s town, because he belonged to David’s family line. Mary, who was pledged to Joseph and pregnant, went with him. Luke also mentions that this was when Quirinius governed Syria. The passage gives the purpose and destination of their journey, but it does not describe the road, how long the trip took, who traveled with them, or how they traveled. Keeping those details simple helps children hear what the Bible actually says.
