The Bible moment
Acts 9:17–19 tells how Ananias went to the house where Saul was staying and laid his hands on him. Ananias explained that Jesus had sent him so Saul could see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Something like scales fell from Saul’s eyes, and he regained his sight. Saul was baptized, ate food, and regained strength. The passage presents these events as a turning point after Saul had entered Damascus blind and had neither eaten nor drunk for three days. This scene should remain focused on the actions named in the passage: Ananias caring for Saul, Saul receiving sight, baptism, food, and renewed strength. The water is a symbol for baptism, not a claim about a particular place or ceremony.
