The Bible moment
Acts 9:1–6 tells how Saul was traveling toward Damascus with authority from the high priest to find followers of the Way and bring them bound to Jerusalem. As he approached the city, a light from heaven flashed around him, and he fell to the ground. Jesus asked why Saul was persecuting Him. When Saul asked who was speaking, Jesus identified Himself and told Saul to enter Damascus, where he would be told what to do. This moment begins Saul’s changed direction. The passage presents Jesus confronting Saul through heavenly light and a voice, without describing Jesus’ physical appearance.

Read Acts 9:1–19 with children, then explain that this image shows only the road encounter in verses 3–6. Emphasize that Jesus is represented by light and a voice, not a pictured body. Invite children to discuss change, obedience, and how Ananias courageously followed Jesus’ instruction. Avoid adding details from other accounts in Acts.
