The Big Idea

Sometimes humble obedience begins when we listen, even after we feel upset or disappointed.

The Bible Story

Naaman Is Healed

In 2 Kings 5:11-14, Naaman becomes angry because Elisha does not come out personally and because the instruction seems too simple for what Naaman expected. Elisha’s messenger tells him to wash seven times in the Jordan River so that his skin will be restored and he will be clean. Naaman’s servants gently reason with him. Naaman then goes to the Jordan and washes seven times. His skin is restored, and he is clean. The passage presents his healing without blaming him for having a skin disease and without explaining a detailed healing mechanism. The story highlights humility and obedience. Later, Naaman returns to Elisha, recognizes God’s power, and Elisha refuses his gift. This scene focuses on the moment when Naaman listens and obeys.
