The Bible Story

Peter Visits Cornelius

Acts 10:17–23 tells how Cornelius’s messengers arrived while Peter was wondering about his vision. They asked for Simon Peter at Simon the tanner’s house. The Holy Spirit told Peter to go with them without hesitation because the Spirit had sent them. Peter met the men, learned why they had come, and invited them to stay. The messengers were two of Cornelius’s household servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him. This moment shows God directing Peter and preparing him to carry the good news about Jesus to people from another nation. It also shows Peter responding with hospitality rather than turning the visitors away. The passage presents the Spirit’s guidance as clear and peaceful.
