The Bible moment
Daniel 3:28–30 records Nebuchadnezzar’s response after Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego came out of the furnace unharmed. The king praised their God for sending his angel or servant to rescue them. He recognized that their God had protected them because they trusted him and refused to worship the gold statue or serve the king’s gods. Nebuchadnezzar then issued a royal decree concerning their God and declared that no other god could save in this way. The passage also says that the three men were promoted in the province of Babylon, but it does not name their new rank. This scene focuses on the king’s public recognition of God’s greatness after witnessing the rescue. The severe penalty included in the decree is not described here.

What children can notice
After the rescue, Nebuchadnezzar publicly praises the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego while the three men stand safely nearby. A scroll or royal decree and a Babylonian setting can suggest the public announcement and their promotion without specifying a rank.

Use this page
Use this page after telling Daniel 3:1–27 or as the closing scene of the story. For children, emphasize the men’s faithful worship of God, their rescue, and the king’s public recognition. Keep the furnace description non-graphic. Explain that the passage mentions a promotion without naming a specific rank. This scene works well for Sunday school, family reading, classroom discussion, or homeschool lessons about courage, worship, and God’s presence.
