The Bible moment
Matthew 17:1-13 tells how Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a high mountain. Before them, Jesus was transfigured: his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. Moses and Elijah appeared and spoke with him. While Peter was speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them. A voice from the cloud declared that Jesus is God’s beloved Son, with whom God is well pleased, and commanded the disciples to listen to him. The disciples fell facedown and were very afraid. Jesus touched them and told them not to be afraid. When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus. As they came down the mountain, Jesus instructed them not to tell anyone about the vision until the Son of Man had been raised from the dead.
