The Wise Men Visit Jesus

Matthew 2:1–12 tells how Magi from the east came to Jerusalem during Herod the king’s reign, seeking the child born king of the Jews. Herod learned that the Christ would be born in Bethlehem and sent the Magi there. A star guided them to the place where Jesus was, and they rejoiced greatly. The Magi entered a house, saw Jesus with Mary his mother, fell down, and worshiped him. They opened their treasures and gave him gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Later, God warned them in a dream not to return to Herod, so they went back to their country by another way. Matthew does not tell us the Magi’s number, names, or exact homeland.
