Jesus Is Baptized

Matthew 3:13-17

Jesus comes from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. Though John initially objects, Jesus says this is fitting to fulfill all righteousness. John baptizes him. As Jesus rises from the water, the heavens open, the Spirit of God descends like a dove and comes to rest on him, and a voice from heaven declares him God’s beloved Son, in whom God is well pleased.
