Jesus Prays in Gethsemane

In Matthew 26:36-46, Jesus comes with his disciples to Gethsemane and tells them to sit there while he goes to pray. He takes Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, becomes sorrowful and troubled, and asks them to remain and watch with him. Jesus prays to his Father, asking that the cup pass from him if possible while submitting to the Father’s will. He finds the disciples sleeping, urges them to watch and pray because the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, and prays two more times. After the disciples sleep again, Jesus tells them to sleep and rest no longer because the hour is near, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners, and his betrayer is approaching. He tells them to rise and go.
