Ruth Gleans in Boaz’s Field

Ruth, a Moabite woman who returned to Bethlehem with Naomi, goes to gather leftover grain and happens to come to the field belonging to Boaz, a relative of Naomi’s husband Elimelech. Boaz learns of Ruth’s loyalty to Naomi, tells her to remain with his female workers, protects her, provides water and food, and instructs the workers to leave extra grain for her. Ruth gathers grain until evening, brings it to Naomi along with leftover food, and continues gleaning through the barley and wheat harvests while living with Naomi.
