The Bible moment
Luke 2:51–52 says that Jesus went down to Nazareth with Mary and Joseph and was obedient to them. The passage also says that Mary treasured these events in her heart. Jesus continued to grow in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and people. This follows the account of Jesus at age twelve, when he was found in the temple listening to teachers and asking questions. Jesus spoke about being in his Father’s house or about his Father’s affairs, but Mary and Joseph did not understand his meaning at that time. Afterward, he returned with them to Nazareth. This passage emphasizes Jesus’ relationship to his heavenly Father, respectful learning, obedience to his parents, and growth in wisdom and maturity. It does not provide later details about his education, work, or ministry.
