The Bible Story

Saul Meets Jesus on the Road

Acts 9:10-12 tells how the Lord called a disciple named Ananias in a vision. Ananias was instructed to go to Judas’s house on Straight Street and ask for Saul of Tarsus. Saul was praying after arriving in Damascus unable to see. In his own vision, Saul saw a man named Ananias laying hands on him so that he might regain his sight. This moment came after Jesus confronted Saul on the road and sent him into Damascus to learn what he should do. Ananias was being asked to approach Saul, a man known for harming believers. The passage presents both men waiting for God’s direction: Ananias listening, and Saul praying. Jesus’ instruction connects them and prepares for the help Saul will receive. The account does not describe Jesus’ physical appearance in this vision; the illustration can therefore represent His presence through light or voice without inventing details.
