The Bible Story

Jesus Is Arrested and Tried

Luke 22:66–71 says that, at daybreak, the council questioned Jesus about whether he was the Christ and the Son of God. Jesus answered in a way that pointed to his identity and future authority. The council concluded that it did not need further testimony and decided to bring him to Pilate. This scene belongs within Luke’s account of Jesus’ arrest and questioning. Luke does not describe a separate formal trial procedure here. The focus is the council’s questioning, Jesus’ identity, and the decision to take him onward. The passage should be presented with reverence and should not add dialogue beyond Luke’s recorded exchange.
