The Bible Story

Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida

Mark 8:22 introduces Jesus and His disciples arriving at Bethsaida. People bring a blind man to Jesus and ask Him to touch him. The passage does not name these people or explain their relationship to the man. Jesus later takes the man outside the village, but this scene focuses on the beginning of the account: the man is brought to Jesus. The man’s blindness is described without connecting it to wrongdoing or punishment. This account continues in Mark 8:23–26, where Jesus heals the man in two stages. First, the man’s sight begins to return, but people look like trees walking around. Then Jesus lays His hands on the man’s eyes again, and the man sees clearly. Jesus sends him home and tells him not to enter the village.
