The Bible Story

Jesus Raises Jairus’s Daughter

Mark 5:21-43 tells how Jesus returned across the lake and a large crowd gathered around Him. Jairus, a synagogue leader, fell at Jesus’ feet and repeatedly begged Him to come because his twelve-year-old daughter was near death. Jesus went with him, and the crowd followed. On the way, a woman who had suffered for twelve years touched Jesus’ clothing and was healed. Jesus spoke with her and sent her in peace. Then messengers told Jairus that his daughter had died. Jesus told Jairus not to fear, but to believe. At the house, Jesus took the child by the hand and told her to get up. She immediately rose and walked. Jesus told the family to give her something to eat and instructed them not to let others know about this.
