The Bible moment
Mark 2:1-12 tells how Jesus returned to Capernaum and taught in a crowded house. Four people brought a paralyzed man and lowered him through the opened roof because they could not reach Jesus through the crowd. Jesus first told the man that his sins were forgiven. Some scribes questioned this in their hearts, thinking that only God could forgive sins. Jesus knew their thoughts and spoke about the authority of the Son of Man to forgive sins on earth. Then he commanded the man, “Get up, take your mat, and go home.” The man immediately rose, took his mat, and walked out in full view of everyone. The crowd was amazed, praised God, and said they had never seen anything like it.
