The Bible moment
Acts 3:12-16 records Peter’s explanation after the healing of the man who had been unable to walk from birth. The people had gathered at Solomon’s Portico after seeing the man walking and praising God. Peter asked why they were amazed, explaining that the healing did not happen through his own power or godliness. He pointed to Jesus and said that the man had been made strong through faith in Jesus’ name. Peter also spoke about Jesus’ rejection, death, and resurrection, and said that he and John were witnesses. This passage teaches that the miracle directed attention to Jesus rather than to Peter. Peter did not present himself as the source of healing. His message helped the people understand what God had done through Jesus’ name.
