The Bible moment
Exodus 14:19–22 describes the LORD’s rescue of Israel at the Red Sea. The angel of God and the pillar of cloud move between the Israelites and the Egyptians. The cloud brings darkness to the Egyptians and light to Israel. The LORD drives back the sea with a strong east wind after Moses stretches out his hand. Israel then crosses safely on dry ground, with walls of water on both sides. The passage presents the LORD as the One who opens the way and protects His people. Moses acts as the LORD commands, but the miracle is the LORD’s work. This scene belongs within the larger account of Israel’s fear, the Egyptian pursuit, and the LORD’s deliverance from Egypt.
