Bible moment
The Bible moment
In 1 Samuel 24:1-7, Saul pursued David and came into a cave while David and his men were hiding inside. David’s men urged him to kill Saul, but David refused. He would not harm Saul because Saul was the LORD’s anointed. David cut off only the corner of Saul’s robe, then felt guilty about even doing that and stopped his men from harming Saul. This passage highlights self-control, mercy toward an enemy, respect for the LORD’s authority, and refusing revenge. David chose not to take judgment into his own hands. The scene should remain focused on what the passage says: David’s decision, his conscience, and his restraint in the cave.
