Bible moment
The Bible moment
Genesis 28:10-22 tells how Jacob travels from Beersheba toward Haran and stops for the night at an unnamed place. He uses a stone as a pillow and falls asleep. In his dream, he sees a stairway or flight of steps set on earth and reaching heaven, with angels going up and down. The LORD stands above it and reaffirms promises about land, descendants, blessing to all families of the earth, God’s presence, protection, and Jacob’s return. Jacob wakes with awe, sets up the stone as a pillar, pours oil on it, and names the place Bethel. He then makes a conditional vow to God.
