The Bible moment
Matthew 26:36–46 tells how Jesus came to Gethsemane with his disciples and went farther into the garden to pray. He was sorrowful and troubled, and he asked Peter and the two sons of Zebedee to remain and watch with him. Jesus prayed to his Father, asking that the cup might pass from him if possible, while submitting to his Father’s will. He prayed three times. Each time he returned, the disciples were sleeping because they were tired. Jesus urged them to watch and pray, explaining that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. At the end, Jesus said the hour was near and told them to rise and go.
