Bible story
Joshua and Caleb Trust God
Numbers 13:1–14:45
Moses sends twelve tribal leaders to explore Canaan. After forty days, they report that the land is fruitful, but ten spies emphasize its strong inhabitants and fortified cities. Caleb urges Israel to trust the LORD and enter the land, and Joshua joins him in urging faithfulness. The people fear, grumble, and want to return to Egypt. The LORD judges the unbelieving generation: those twenty years old and upward, except Caleb and Joshua, will not enter the land. The ten spies who gave the bad report die by a plague. Israel then attempts to enter the land without the LORD’s support and is defeated by the Amalekites and Canaanites.
