The Bible Story

The Baby Moses

Exodus 2:10 says that when Moses had grown older, his mother brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter. The child became Pharaoh’s daughter’s son, and she named him Moses because she drew him out of the water. This moment follows Moses’s rescue from danger: his mother had hidden him, placed him in a papyrus basket among the reeds, and Pharaoh’s daughter had found him and shown compassion. Moses’s sister helped arrange for his mother to nurse him. The passage ends this part of the story with Moses safely welcomed into Pharaoh’s daughter’s household. The Bible identifies the child as Moses and connects his name with water. This scene should remain focused on that welcome and naming explanation, without adding a ceremony, later education, adult identity, or later events.
